Explain how you think about AI. One question at a time, with room to reason, be unsure, or say you don’t know.
You’re already using AI. Now understand what’s happening behind it.
Discover what you know, what’s missing, and where to go next.
I think it finds patterns from what it learned. But I’m not sure how that becomes a new answer.
Recognizing a pattern is different from explaining how generation works. Your reasoning helps reveal what to explore next.
You don’t need another list of things to learn. You need to know which things matter for you.
Explain how you think about AI. One question at a time, with room to reason, be unsure, or say you don’t know.
See your understanding across four capability areas, grounded in what you actually said. No arbitrary AI score.
Leave with a recommended starting point, the concepts worth exploring, and a map you can refer back to.
Knowing the terminology is one thing. Knowing how to use that understanding is another. Your diagnosis explores both.
Understand what happens behind the prompt. Models, tokens, context, and the difference between a plausible answer and a reliable one.
Connect the things you use to how they work. Move from getting an answer to understanding the pieces of an AI feature.
Reason about how a system fits together. What belongs in the model, what belongs in the application, and why it matters.
Make better decisions about what to build. Think through trade-offs, evaluate outputs, and recognize what is ready to ship.
Watching an explanation is a beginning. Predicting what happens, testing an idea, and applying it somewhere new is how understanding takes shape.
Find your starting pointProgress is the reasoning you can demonstrate.
Not the videos you’ve finished.
We’re building Learn By Building AI for people who want to move beyond using the tools—and start making sense of them.
Curiosity is all you need to bring.
It’s a conversation about how you think, build, and make decisions with AI. You explain your reasoning in your own words. The diagnostic uses that evidence to map the areas explored and suggest a useful starting point.
No. You can start with the understanding you have today. The diagnostic explores your reasoning, and keeps assisted capability separate from independent implementation ability. It’s fine to say “I don’t know.”
No. You get a capability map grounded in your responses, with strengths, gaps, and suggested next steps. Areas without enough evidence stay unassessed. This is an initial diagnostic, not a validated assessment or certification.
Start with the conversational diagnostic and your capability map. We’re building the next part of the experience around a first adaptive lesson: how language models generate answers. A full curriculum is not available yet.
Yes. Your saved conversation is associated with this browser, so you can return and continue. Clearing cookies or switching browsers can lose access. You can also finish the diagnosis early; unexplored areas remain unassessed.
Your responses aren’t public. They are processed to guide the diagnostic and create your map. You can delete your session in the app. Please leave out passwords, API keys, and confidential information; processing and retention details are available in the app’s privacy information.
A conversation. A clearer picture. A direction that makes sense.
